This is a place holder for eBay duplicates and how they work with our system (or more so how they don't work). Simple guide to get through it all and how to see it within SellerActive.
We don't work well with eBay Duplicate's and if there is even one duplicate then the entire thing comes crashing down. This can happen for ANY eBay store.
Duplicates must be edited/adjusted on eBay directly. There is no way for SellerActive to make these adjustment's.
How do I know if my account has duplicates?
You will know if the account had duplicates because there will be an alert within the SellerActive portal. This will be highlighted and selecting the error will prompt a full text file off all of the customer's inventory.
From there you will want to go to Excel and parse the information accordingly (explained below).
If you clear out the error then the alert will re-populate if and when we get another duplicate with an inventory import.
The file that is downloaded seems to be in Text format. How am I able to isolate the Duplicates?
This might come across as tedious by the customer but you will be able to find the duplicates using a few steps within Excel. Once you have downloaded the file you will want to open (or drag and drop into an open worksheet) Excel.
- Highlight the SKU/Custom Label field.
- Select Conditional Formatting → Highlight Rules → Duplicate values
- With the column still highlighted select "Sort and Filter" and select Custom Sort
- You will then select to filter by the SKU Column and the cell color (they should be highlighted in red).
- You should then have a list of all the Duplicates at the top.
- It is best to remove the "un-duplicated" listings and then do an A-Z sort. This will put all of the duplicates next to each other and it will be easier to sort.
Searching by SKU within eBay's interface may be difficult. You will want to grab "ebay_item_ID" (which is within the same file) to compare on eBay's end and either revise the listing or delete the duplicate entirely
Currently I use another identifier in order to isolate my listings and want to pull those in as the SKU. There are no duplicate's in this other custom field so that should solve this problem. Can the Developer's pull this other field in so I do not have to adjust my SKU's?
Currently our system keys off of the SKU/Custom Label field for all processing. Unfortunately there is no way around this feature and the request would be considered Custom Work that is at the will of the Development Team for approval. Do not suggest any alternatives.
I don't know which duplicate listing to delete, does it matter?
Currently it is up to you to choose which item they want to keep active. Typically this is decided on the sales history of the item; the longer it has been around the better it will look on your eBay metrics. Ultimately that is a case-by-case decision and our system does not treat one listing different from the other (unless it was listed through us and even in that case our system would reject you from making a duplicate).
My prices and quantities aren't updating and there isn't a Duplicate SKU error. What is going on?
There is the opportunity for there to be duplicates but an alert will not appear within SellerActive. Even a single duplicate will effect the entire functionality of our feed to eBay and could be effecting price and quantity updates. Even if there isn't an alert, our Support Team is trained to review every account for duplicates first before diving into any quantity issue. If the item in question is a Variation listing, then additional steps are needed, and we do advise reaching out to the Support Team for further explanation.
