Sales Velocity is on average how many units of any item you sell per day, and it only calculates when the item is in stock. This calculation is based on a weighted average of the number of units ordered for that SKU in the last 30 days. Therefore newer orders have more of an impact on sales velocity than older orders.
Setting up your Sales Velocity tracking is an integral part of creating a successful Low Stock report. Once these settings are selected, it should take approximately 14-30 days for the listings to acquire a sales velocity and activate the "Days to Restock" functionality.
To start tracking your Sales Velocity:
- Navigate to the Advanced Settings page (Orders > Advanced Settings).
- On the Advanced Settings page, check the boxes for Stock Monitoring and Velocity Tracking under Inventory Settings.
- Click "Save Settings".
- We cannot prompt this velocity to change before this 14 - 30 day range. The velocity is working strictly off of order data, so there is no way to prompt the velocity to change before the 14 – 30 days.
- For SKUs to appear on the Low Stock Report, the above settings as well as vendor settings must be completed. If the above settings are established, but vendors are not attached, information will not populate on the Low Stock Report.
